Details: Between August & October 2026, a highly alarming series of animal cruelty cases involving the dismemberment & killing of multiple cats emerged in Norway, specifically targeting affluent neighborhoods in Oslo West & Bærum.

A disturbing signature of these crimes was the placement of the remains. The perpetrator deliberately left the dismembered body parts in highly visible, open public or semi-private spaces, such as public pavements, sidewalks & residential gardens, frequently just a short distance from the victims’ family homes.

The gruesome nature of what the Norwegian media dubbed “Jo Nesbø-style” killings struck fear into local pet owners. The prominent Norwegian animal rights organization, NOAH, heavily publicized the case, initially offering a reward that was later increased to 30,000 NOK for any tips leading to the identification & arrest of the individual(s) responsible.
